How do I copy and edit a family VHS video tape to cd?

I have about 15 VHS family tapes. Some have blank moments, unclear pictures etc. I really want to save them and it was suggested to put them on a CD. But what do I need to buy and how do I do it.

I would suggest going to a local department store, or an electronics store, and buying a DVD recorder. Either with a VHS and CD/DVD combo, or you can get one you can hook up to your VCR. Another thing you can do, is copying the original tape to a CD (with the recorder), and putting it into your computer and editing, and burning with your DVD drive in your computer. Or, you can plug your VCR directly into your computer, but then, I think you need software, cords, and etc.. and it may be too expensive, and too technical. In other words, I would just go the easy way, and use a recorder that can plug into your TV. (A DVD recorder can also record TV shows onto a DVD)
