what are non impact pilates excersizes?
what does it mean when they say
"Covers basic concepts and skills in the
Pilates method of conditioning, including core
strength, muscle tone, coordination, and
flexibility. Non-impact mat exercises are modified
to various fitness levels."
I guess I dont understand what Non-Impact Mat excersizes are.. I mean i thought it meant that it would make no difference to your body..
No, non-impact means that it doesn't have an impact on your joints - for example, jogging can put pressure on your knee joints.
Pilates are slow, yoga like exercises that use your muscles, but they are very slow, and low impact, therefore reducing your risk of injury or arthritis in later life.

If Pilates interests you, perhaps you should try Callanetics, which is very similar. I have a DVD and you can really feel it working, although you only make very small/slow movements, and it doesn't get you all sweaty and out of breath.
